Risk Control Resources
Safety is a priority for all trucking companies. Failure to comply with safety regulations can result in out-of-service violations, fines, and possible
revocation of your operating authority. Accidents can result in injury and death, equipment downtime, out-of-pocket expenses, and increased insurance costs.
Your insurance company should be able and willing to assist you in your compliance and accident reduction efforts. Trucking safety is a specialized
field. Look for an insurance company that has risk control staff with strong truck safety knowledge and expertise.
Your insurance company should also have a wide variety of materials available to assist you in your safety efforts. Materials should include items
such as driver training programs and videos, sample compliance forms, and sample policies and procedures.
Ask your agent about the qualifications of the company's risk control personnel. Are they experienced truck safety professionals? Does the
company have trucking specific resources available to assist you in your safety efforts?
Print the Truck Insurance Evaluation Checklist and review it with your agent next time you buy truck insurance.
